REVIEW: Nicki Minaj 2012 Australian Tour - Sydney Posted by Jason 17 May, 2012 - 11:04 AM

There's nothing subtle about Nicki Minaj - and the pink-wigged crowd at Sydney's Hordern Pavilion got the sensory overload they were looking for as the hip hop pop superstar kicked off her first ever Australian tour last night.
Thanks to long lines shuffling into the arena and the fact that these things never run on time, proceedings finally kicked off - with Minaj emerging wrapped in a black cloak. What was underneath?
Her hour-long set kicked off with Roman Holiday and bang - blonde hair, highlighter yellow leggings, studded pink hotpants and graffiti jacket. She's animated and there's no getting away from it.
In a medley-esque fashion, Minaj breezed through her tunes - and four costume changes. You just had to be there when she sang her hit Starships - the foundations of the Hordern were rumbling. Rumbling.
All in all there was nothing grey, black, or white about Nicki's show.
Just fluoro.

One Direction are a phenomena eclipsing tween sensations the Jonas Brothers and Justin Bieber before them. After causing mass hysteria during their short lived Australian promotional tour which included a limited amount of concerts, the five piece band have sold out their upcoming tour – which won't be happening for 17 months.
We can't remember anyone ever announcing a show so far in advance, let along selling out most of the dates. More shows have been added to cope with demand.
1D are doing a massive 18 shows in Australia, including 7 shows in Melbourne (5 of those have sold out).
One Direction's Chlamydia Fears
All up they've sold out 13 shows, with all sure to sell out over the next 17 months! Tickets are already selling on eBay for $1000.
But the thing is, will their young fans still be into the band once we get to September 2013? Only time will tell!
