Eddie Murphy has quit as the host of next year’s Oscars. In a statement, Eddie says “I completely understand and support each party’s decision with regard to a change of producers for this year’s Academy Awards ceremony.” So, how did this all come about? Well, first we have to go back to a book written by Olivia Munn from The Daily Show and SJP’s movie “I Don’t Know How She Does It.” Olivia implied she watched director Brett Ratner sort himself out with a prawn cocktail (the less we think about that, the happier we’ll all be). She didn’t name him, but he went on the offensive and denied the whole thing, and then admitted yes it was true. Douche. Then, just to prove how much of douche he is, he made the rather regrettable comment “Rehearsals are for fags.”

Whoops. Gay slurs are not well-liked in Hollywood, as you can imagine. Brett Ratner, who has directed Eddie Murphy’s new film Tower Heights, and is producing the Academy Awards ceremony, had hired Eddie to host the Oscars. In light of Ratner’s vile homophobic comments, he has *ahem* stepped down from the post of Oscars producer (in polite circles, stepped down = pushed) and Eddie followed soon after. This is what is referred to in the industry as a clusterfart. If fart was a more naughty swear word...

Who would you like to see host the Oscars?
